Smerz bring their stripped, shape-shifting pop to Barbican Centre, London, on 15 October 2026. The Norwegian duo of Henriette Motzfeldt and Catharina Stoltenberg work with a lean palette: clipped drum patterns, cool synths and vocals that slide between spoken lines and tight harmonies. On stage, they build tracks in motion, letting pauses, off-kilter rhythms and sudden pivots reframe each song as it unfolds.

Drawing from Believer (2021) and Big city life (2025), their set folds everyday narratives into pieces that shift from intimate talk-sing to layered choral textures. Hints of classical phrasing meet a slowed club pulse, while skeletal beats hold space for small details to surface. The staging tends to stay minimal, keeping focus on timing, gesture and the grain of their voices. At Barbican Centre, expect a live journey that traces clear lines between experimental electronics, R&B inflections and direct pop forms, with the duo’s precise interplay steering the room from close-listening moments to a subtle late-night sway.
