Modestep

Modestep plays Kraków on 19 November 2026 at Klub Zaścianek. Born in London around brothers Josh and Tony Friend at the turn of the 2010s, the project forged a hybrid sound linking dubstep and drum and bass with electronic rock. Early online radio shows and breakout singles like Feel Good, Sunlight and To the Stars led to the debut album Evolution Theory in 2013, followed by London Road in 2015, a period marked by lineup shifts with Pat Lundy and Kyle Deek joining after the departures of Matthew Curtis and Nick Tsang.

From 2017 onward, Modestep refocused around vocalist and producer Josh Friend, releasing on labels such as Never Say Die, Monstercat, Disciple and UKF, and leaning into a bass-forward, modern dubstep and DnB direction across the EPs Echoes and Dawn (2019) and Diamonds (2022). Now operating as a solo banner, Friend keeps the balance between sung hooks, guitars and heavy low-end, with the 2025 single Give Up The Ghost sketching the current phase. On stage, the set moves between melody and impact, aligning Modestep’s rock roots with today’s bass music at Klub Zaścianek in Kraków, Poland.
