Avatar bring their dark carnival of riffs to Edinburgh on 29 November 2026 at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. Formed in Gothenburg, the band grew out of melodic death metal into a theatrical, groove-laced strain of modern metal. Fronted by Johannes Eckerström, the lineup drives sharp riffs and sturdy rhythms, offset by melodies that cut through the noise. Their concerts weave characters and narratives shaped across Black Waltz, Hail the Apocalypse, Feathers & Flesh, Avatar Country, Hunter Gatherer and Dance Devil Dance, turning songs into scenes without losing the bite of their early years. Lights, makeup and precise staging feed an unsettling circus mood, while the guitars and drums keep things heavy and direct. Between hooky choruses and denser passages, Avatar balance impact and atmosphere, delivering a live show built on storytelling, tight playing and a visual edge crafted over two decades.
