On 1 July 2026, Baketown, Kolonnenstraße 27 in Berlin will bring Pink Siifu and Maxo together. Pink Siifu, born Livingston Matthews in Birmingham, Alabama, weaves experimental hip-hop with soul, jazz, funk, spoken word and occasional punk or noise edges. His pieces shift fluidly between rap, singing and declamation. On ensley (2018) he maps memories of his origins, Negro (2020) leans on rougher textures and hardcore impulses, while Gumbo'! (2021) bundles southern groove, soul and spoken word. Alongside his solo path, projects such as FlySiifu with Fly Anakin and B. Cool-Aid with producer Ahwlee have shaped him — collaborations that reflect his agile working approach.
Maxo, a rapper from Los Angeles, adds his own accent. His approach gives the words space and deliberately keeps the tempo tight, supported by productions that leave room for nuance. In interplay with Pink Siifu, underground rap, beat-scene influences and organic grooves come together — with moments ranging from introverted concentration to edgy energy.
