On December 18, 2026 at Pumpehuset in Copenhagen, Self Deception and Ankor share a bill steeped in modern metal with a clear taste for melody.
Born in Stockholm in 2005, Self Deception walks a tight line between dense guitars, hook-led vocals and a pop-aware sense of chorus without dropping the heavy backbone. From early releases like Restitution and Over the Threshold to the sharper turns of the self-titled record, Endorse the Art and the recent Destroy the Art, the quartet has leaned into a tighter, more direct sound. On stage, that balance hits with driving riffs, punchy tempos and refrains built to stick, carried by Andreas Clark’s lead lines and a rhythm section that keeps it muscular.
From Tarragona, Ankor grew out of melodic metal into a modern blend of metalcore, alternative rock and pop accents. The shift took shape with Jessie Williams on vocals, as heard on Beyond the Silence of These Years, where clean hooks meet harsher bursts and a touch of electronics. Switching between English and Spanish, the band plays on contrasts: bright choruses against serrated riffs, groove-led drops and technical flashes. Their live approach connects emotion and impact while keeping songcraft at the center.
