Thee Sinseers

On 24 September 2026 Thee Sinseers will perform at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen. Rooted in East Los Angeles, this collective around singer, songwriter and producer Joey Quiñones brings chicano soul and lowrider soul from the South Californian barrios to the stage. At its core: a tight rhythm section, melodic horns and vocal harmonies that carry the whole. Since the late 2010s the band has been shaping its sound with singles on Penrose, the soul imprint of Colemine Records, where slow sweet soul, doo‑wop ballads and mid‑tempo rhythm-and-blues alternate. Quiñones writes in simple, sure-footed structures that place the vocal lines front and center, in arrangements that clearly wink at the soul productions of the 1960s and 70s without lapsing into pure retro. Live the set revolves around the debut album Sinseerly Yours (2024, Colemine), supplemented by early Penrose tracks: intimate ballads that quiet the room alongside looser-groove numbers that nod toward the dancefloor. Thee Sinseers come from the independent venues and the soul and funk scenes of the U.S. West Coast, and in Groningen they bring that same pared-down, warm-blooded approach to soul, with horns, group vocals and melody in the foreground.
