Arrested Development

Arrested Development bring their conscious, groove-rich hip-hop to The Factory Live in Worthing on 28 August 2026. Formed in Atlanta and led today by Speech with One Love, JJ Boogie and Fareedah Aleem, the collective opened a different path for the genre from 1991 onward, blending afrocentric rhythms, soul and funk textures, live-band sensibilities and lyrics that face social, spiritual and political themes head-on.

Their first chapter crystallised with the album 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life of…, home to Tennessee, People Everyday and Mr. Wendal. That run was recognised with two Grammy awards, MTV and Soul Train accolades, plus a spot for Tennessee among the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll. After a pause, the group resumed in the 2000s on a more independent track, touring steadily and releasing projects like Since the Last Time, Strong, Don’t Fight Your Demons and For the FKN Love.

On stage, expect tight musicianship, call-and-response hooks and layered rhythms, with a set that moves between cornerstone singles and recent cuts, carried by warm harmonies and clear, grounded messages.
