Laibach bring their singular vision to London on 29 September 2026 at Islington Assembly Hall. Formed in 1980 in Trbovlje, Slovenia (then Yugoslavia), the group forged a sound at the crossroads of industrial, avant‑garde electronics and neo‑classical dark wave, paired with a strict, martial visual language. Aligned early with the Neue Slowenische Kunst collective, they work through appropriation and the codes of power, nationalism and propaganda, a stance that led to censorship in 1980s Yugoslavia. Over time, Laibach moved from raw, repetitive machinery toward more orchestral forms: mechanical percussion, cavernous baritone vocals, classical citations and covers reshaped into ambiguous anthems. Albums such as Laibach, Nova Akropola, Opus Dei, Let It Be, Kapital, NATO, Spectre, Also Sprach Zarathustra, The Sound of Music and Wir sind das Volk map this trajectory, alongside scores for theatre and film. On stage, the band stitches music and performance into a stark political tableau, drawing across decades of material from early industrial pieces to recent works.
