Bandit Bandit returns two years after their debut album with Cavalcades - Ce que la nuit ne dit pas, a record that is more direct and more controlled. The single Pas le Temps opens the album with a mix of rock fury, ’80s rhythms and feminist lyrics. Born from the tumultuous relationship between Maëva Nicolas and Hugo Herleman, the duo experienced success, tension and then a split, before reuniting as friends to record new demos. Each brought new influences, from ’90s rock to St. Vincent and Lou-Adriane Cassidy.

To reinvent themselves they worked with producer Lionnel Buzac, whose creative energy gave rise to several tracks. The album, subsequently produced by Azzedine Djelil and mastered by Matt Colton, becomes a testament to a turbulent decade. Maëva explores her coming of age, her pain and her struggles, notably on Opaline, where she tackles the subject of abortion. The record alternates raw riffs, pop melodies and stark contrasts, from Rien Attendre to Joli Voyage, including Idole and Seulement cette fois. It closes with Pour toi, an elegy in which the two voices and the guitars meet one last time. Bandit Bandit thus delivers a comeback shaped by past struggles and by the renewed bond between its two members.
