Info
Sunday, November 8, 2026 at The Wise Hall, Vancouver, Squirrel Flower — the project of Ella O’Connor Williams — brings a live set that moves between indie folk and indie rock with a clear, unforced intensity. From early DIY beginnings to I Was Born Swimming (2020), Planet (i) (2021) and Tomorrow’s Fire (2023), her songs have kept a tight, intimate frame while the sound has opened up: cleaner riffs rubbing up against rougher guitars, quiet verses that edge toward a louder release. On stage, that range stays front and center, with close-mic vocals and a band that lets the dynamics breathe. Her 2024 Tiny Desk showed the stripped-down core of these tracks; in a room, the electric grain does the rest.
Sour Widows open the night. The Bay Area bedroom rock band sets the tone with a hazier, home-recorded spirit translated to the stage, leaning into understated melodies and a steady pulse that complements Squirrel Flower’s shifts in volume and texture.
