Vundabar and Yot Club share the stage at Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on 13 September 2026. Two angles on guitar‑driven indie, each with its own pulse.
From Boston, Vundabar centres on Brandon Hagen and drummer Drew McDonald. Their indie rock folds in surf bite, post‑punk tension and twisted pop turns, with Hagen’s nasal vocals and cutting guitars up front. Antics and Gawk sketched a lo‑fi, hooky frame; Smell Smoke brought themes of grief, mental health and family into play without losing the choruses. Either Light widened the palette with keyboards and gentler textures, and Devil for the Fire tilted darker and nervier, playing with tempo switches and sudden gear changes. Live, the core duo adds bass and leans into tight, wiry energy.
Yot Club is Ryan Kaiser’s project, started between Mississippi and Nashville. He records songs where clean, lightly overdriven guitars, simple, looping rhythms and a soft, slightly distant voice set a melancholic but direct mood. Early tracks travelled online before YKWIM? reached a wider crowd; the 2022 album off the grid nudged the sound toward quicker tempos and melodic post‑punk shapes. On stage Yot Club becomes a full band, pushing the songs’ everyday themes—suburban ennui, small escapes—into a brisker, more driving set.
