Joshua Idehen

British-Nigerian poet, vocalist and musician Joshua Idehen brings his hybrid of spoken word, jazz and club textures to HERE at Outernet, London on 3 November 2026. First noticed with the trio Benin City, he has since moved freely between the UK jazz scene and more club‑leaning productions, crossing paths with Sons of Kemet, The Comet Is Coming and Daedelus. His delivery is rhythmic and precise, a spoken diction that folds everyday detail, social reflection and intimate narrative into supple electronics, house or broken beat pulses and arrangements shaped by jazz.

On stage, Idehen blurs the line between reading, live band and dancefloor energy. The words stay front and centre while the grooves shift underneath, opening space for tension and release, call-and-response and quieter corners. Pieces from Learn To Swim, his 2021 project with Ludvig Parment, and the 2024 EP Mum Does The Washing feed into a set where text and cadence drive the music, without separating the spoken word from the concert or the club.
