Info
OMD – Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – bring their Summer of Hits to Brighton Centre, Brighton on 28 June 2026. Formed on the Wirral by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, the group folded post‑punk energy into European electronics and shaped a clean, melodic synth‑pop that kept shifting over time. Early records drew sharp lines between pop hooks and darker textures, then came more fragmented experiments and brass‑coloured grooves, followed by a turn toward a more immediate electronic pop. After a long pause, the original core reformed and returned to the studio, pushing their sound forward through the 2010s and up to Bauhaus Staircase in 2023.
On stage, that timeline becomes a single thread: precise machines, warm melodies, sequenced basslines, and those bittersweet refrains that linger. McCluskey’s voice and presence up front, Humphreys’s synths and harmonies at the controls, backed by an expanded live band that gives the arrangements more space and drive. This date lines up classics and newer material side by side, tracing how OMD move from minimal pulses to atmospheric ballads and punchier pop without losing their economy or clarity.
