On 11 July 2026, Jools Holland brings his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra to Swansea Arena. At the piano, he steers a band built for boogie-woogie, swing and rhythm and blues, with tight horn lines, rolling grooves and call-and-response passages shaped for the stage. The set blends jump-blues instrumentals, classic R&B and pieces from his own songbook, all rearranged for a full ensemble where the piano locks with brass, reeds and a nimble rhythm section.
Special guest Roachford adds a soulful, rock-tinged voice and keys to the mix. Known for fusing pop-rock drive with R&B phrasing, he slips into the orchestra’s pocket for both pulse-driven tunes and slow burners, trading lines with Holland and pushing the band into richer dynamics.
Vocalists Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall and Sumudu Jayatilaka carry the front line. Turner’s blues and gospel roots lift the high-energy numbers, while Marshall and Jayatilaka shape close harmonies and take agile leads, moving from shuffles to tender ballads. Together, they frame Holland’s piano and the orchestra’s brass in arrangements that favour feel, interplay and a live, big-band sound.
