Primal Scream

Primal Scream play Rock City, Nottingham on 9 September 2026. Led by Bobby Gillespie with Andrew Innes and Darrin Mooney, the Glasgow outfit fold indie guitars, acid house pulses and dub textures into a live set shaped by decades of shapeshifting. From the jangle and psych of their early days to the club-wise blend of Screamadelica, then the rock and soul swing of Give Out But Don’t Give Up and the serrated charge of XTRMNTR and Evil Heat, the band move easily between styles without losing their focus on rhythm and repetition.

On stage, that history becomes a fluid journey: Loaded, Movin’ On Up or Swastika Eyes can slide into darker, motorik passages from Vanishing Point, with newer cuts from Come Ahead threaded through. Guitars bite, synths smear into distortion, bass locks to a dance pulse, and percussion drives the dynamics. Gillespie shifts from croon to chant, keeping the centre while the arrangements open up around him. It’s Primal Scream in motion, direct and physical, tuned for a room like Rock City.
