Info
Belle and Sebastian play The Piece Hall, Halifax, on 21 June 2026. Born in mid-90s Glasgow around Stuart Murdoch with Stevie Jackson, Chris Geddes, Richard Colburn and Sarah Martin, the band shaped a clear indie pop and chamber pop identity: lean melodies, discreet strings or brass, and storytelling rooted in everyday life. From Tigermilk and If You’re Feeling Sinister through The Boy with the Arab Strap and Fold Your Hands Child, then the more polished Dear Catastrophe Waitress and The Life Pursuit, to the dance-leaning Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance, their catalogue moves between hushed confessionals and brighter, groove-led moments. On stage, that range lets the songs breathe, shifting from intimate narratives to widescreen pop with quiet assurance.
Saint Etienne bring their Croydon-born blend of club culture and pop craft. Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs braid 60s melodies with house and synthpop textures, from Foxbase Alpha and So Tough to Tiger Bay, Good Humor and Sound of Water. Over the years they’ve sketched London moods and suburban memories, folding ambient tones and crisp beats into lucid, melodic songs. Their set draws on that mix of dancefloor pulse and pop finesse, balancing nostalgia and forward motion without losing the hook.
