Dead Calm is the alias where Irish musician Liam McCay leans into his slowcore instincts. Born in Galway and raised in Buncrana, County Donegal, he’s been active since 2022 under several monikers — Sign Crushes Motorist, Birth Day and Take Care — splitting his writing across projects without losing a shared taste for short, minimal, melancholic forms. As Dead Calm, he works with unhurried tempos, muted guitars and stripped-back lyrics, keeping the sound intimate and lo-fi.
