Courteeners

Courteeners bring their Manchester-bred indie rock to O2 Academy Leicester on 27 August 2026. Formed in 2006 around singer and songwriter Liam Fray with Michael Campbell and Daniel Moores, the band has evolved from tight, guitar-led songs rooted in post-Britpop and post-punk revival to a sound that folds in synth textures without losing its direct, melodic edge. Early releases like St. Jude and Falcon set the tone with sharp storytelling and tuneful riffs, followed by Anna and Concrete Love, then the broader palette of Mapping the Rendezvous and the punchy More. Again. Forever.

On stage, the group’s balance of rhythm, guitars and clear-headed writing is front and center, with Joe Cross anchoring the low end and Elina Lin adding keys that give recent material extra color. The 2024 album Pink Cactus Café extends that mix, leaning into groove and atmosphere while keeping the songwriting concise. Expect a set that connects newer tracks with the songs that built their following, tracing a line from their Manchester roots to today, with the no-frills energy that has carried them across UK festival stages.
