Info
Puma Blue, the project of musician, producer and songwriter Jacob Allen, plays Chalk, Brighton and Hove on 26 May 2026. Raised in South London and now based in Atlanta, Allen first surfaced with the EPs Swum Baby (2017) and Blood Loss (2018), before opening a longer chapter with his debut album In Praise of Shadows (2021), later echoed in the concert film A Late Night Special. On record and on stage, his music leaves room for silence and detail: a featherlight falsetto, guitars that breathe, drums that barely disturb the air, bass lines that linger. With a close-knit band, pieces stretch and contract, allowing improvisation and an intensity that can brush up against the spirit of Jeff Buckley without leaning on it. Holy Waters (2023) pushed a more collective feel and circled themes of death and renewal; antichamber (2025) pared everything back to a minimal core. This show traces that path, reframing early tracks and letting newer songs settle into focus, somewhere between dream states and dusky R&B. The set moves from skeletal ballads to slow, loose grooves, carried by a voice that favours suggestion over display.
