Info
Dropkick Murphys play Edinburgh Corn Exchange on 27 June 2026. Formed in 1996 in Quincy, just outside Boston, the band has built a Celtic punk sound shaped by Irish folk melodies, gang vocals and the working-class imagery of New England. Around bassist and founder Ken Casey, the group moved from an early run with singer Mike McColgan to the long-standing era with Al Barr, widening its palette with acoustic instruments drawn from traditional music alongside punchy guitars and drums.
On stage, the Murphys stitch call-and-response choruses, driving rhythms and folk-tinged arrangements into tight, straight-ahead songs built to be shared. The set in Edinburgh should span their catalog: the raw edge of Do or Die and The Gang’s All Here, the sharpened hooks of Blackout and The Warrior’s Code—featuring I’m Shipping Up to Boston, written from Woody Guthrie’s lyrics—through to Turn Up That Dial. Recent work like This Machine Still Kills Fascists leans further into American folk heritage while keeping the collective spirit that has defined the band from the start. From barroom chants to brisk, melodic bursts, Dropkick Murphys bring a live show that connects their Boston roots with a wider folk-punk tradition.
