On 17 November 2026, Squeeze land at the Globe Theatre in Stockton-on-Tees with very special guest Billy Bragg. Formed in London in 1974 around the writing partnership of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, Squeeze carved a lean, melodic take on new wave and English pop. Their songs sketch everyday life with crisp hooks and conversational lyrics: Take Me I’m Yours, Cool for Cats and Up the Junction set the template, followed by albums like East Side Story and, later, Cradle to the Grave and The Knowledge. On stage, the band leans on that tight songcraft and stories told in three minutes.
Billy Bragg brings his stripped-back electric guitar style forged in the early 80s, somewhere between folk immediacy and punk drive. From Life’s a Riot with Spy vs Spy and Talking with the Taxman about Poetry to the Mermaid Avenue sessions with Wilco on Woody Guthrie lyrics, his catalogue balances social observation with more intimate detours. Recent work like The Million Things That Never Happened keeps that direct voice in focus.
