Info

Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox lands at York Barbican, York, on 29 May 2026. Conceived by pianist and arranger Scott Bradlee, PMJ takes today’s pop, hip-hop and R&B hits and recasts them with the warmth of another era: swing, ragtime, doo-wop, soul and big band. Born on YouTube and honed on tour, the collective runs on a rotating lineup of singers and players, each bringing a distinct tone and personality to carefully shaped arrangements. On stage, melodies you know turn into smoky torch songs, jittery swing numbers or lounge-ready croons, with nods to the Great American Songbook and space for solos.

The concept is simple and effective: flip chart favorites into vintage standards without the gimmicks, letting strong vocals, tight rhythm sections and bright horn lines carry the show. The cast changes from tour to tour, keeping the repertoire fresh and the arrangements alive, while Bradlee’s piano anchors the flow. If you’re into modern hits reimagined through a retro lens, this is a chance to hear them rebuilt for a live band, with musicianship front and center.
