Keziah Jones

Keziah Jones returns to the stage on 14 November 2026 at La Cartonnerie in Reims. A guitarist and singer born in Lagos, he has over the years shaped his blufunk, a blend of blues and funk with a hint of punk and Yoruba rhythms. His percussive style, often employing slap technique on an acoustic guitar, combines bass lines and strikes to create a pulse that is both physical and melodic.

After ten years without a new album, he presents Alive and Kicking, recorded live at Femi Kuti’s studios in Lagos. The record surveys his career and marks a new phase with two previously unreleased tracks in which he explores a more soul-inflected vein. Live, this material grows in scope: stripped-down renditions of his classics, taut grooves, vocal bursts and crisp riffs, all driven by the energy that defined his early days in London.

In Reims, Keziah Jones delivers a set that links Lagos to European stages without folkloric trappings or clichés. It is a back-to-basics return that looks forward—between Afro-urban heritage and finely honed songs—for a concert focused on what matters most: the guitar, the voice and the rhythm.
