GIRLI

On 19 October 2026 GIRLI will perform at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht. The project of London musician Milly Toomey moves between electronic pop, indie pop and a punk-like directness. Since the mid-2010s she has released tracks that combine spoken word and melodic choruses with synth-driven productions. Her lyrics touch on identity, relationships and mental health, as well as gender and sexuality, written from a personal, often queer urban perspective.

With the debut album Odd One Out (2019), the EP Damsel in Distress (2021) and Matriarchy (2024), GIRLI charts a course from a rougher rap- and electro-influenced sound toward more melodic pop, without abandoning the color and openness of her early work. She carries this through in her live shows: compact songs, direct lyrics and propulsive rhythms shaped in the clubs and midsize venues where she found her audience in the UK and Europe. In Utrecht this comes together in a set that places new material alongside early tracks, leaving room for vulnerability as well as choruses that linger.
