On 9 August 2026, 3Arena in Dublin welcomes Sepultura with Bloodbath for a bill that connects Brazilian thrash roots and Swedish old-school death metal.

Formed in 1984 in Belo Horizonte, Sepultura first mixed thrash and death metal on Morbid Visions and Schizophrenia, then stepped onto the international map with Beneath the Remains and Arise, where sharp riffing and tight rhythms set their tone. In the mid‑90s, Chaos A.D. and Roots brought heavier grooves, hardcore influences and Brazilian percussion into the mix. After the departures of Max and Igor Cavalera, the band moved ahead with vocalist Derrick Green alongside guitarist Andreas Kisser. Records like Against, Nation, Dante XXI, Machine Messiah and Quadra show a balance between contemporary thrash, more progressive textures and percussive passages, with lyrics often looking at social and identity questions.

Born in Stockholm in 1998, Bloodbath gathers musicians tied to Katatonia, Opeth and Edge of Sanity around a stripped, classic Scandinavian death metal sound. From the Breeding Death EP and Resurrection Through Carnage to Nightmares Made Flesh and The Fathomless Mastery, the group has kept a direct, compact approach. Since 2014, the core has centered on Anders Nyström, drummer Martin Axenrot and Nick Holmes of Paradise Lost, with albums like Grand Morbid Funeral, The Arrow of Satan Is Drawn and Survival of the Sickest pushing darker, blackened shades without leaving that old-school edge.
