Info
Ratboys play The Grand Social in Dublin on 26 May 2026. Formed in Chicago around singer-guitarist Julia Steiner and guitarist Dave Sagan, the band grew from a quiet, guitar-led folk project into a full-band approach that folds melodic indie rock with light emo accents, flashes of power pop and a hint of alt-country. Their debut album AOID (2015) set the contrast between slow-bloom ballads and sharper electric tracks. GN (2017) refined the mix of clear guitars and direct hooks, with lyrics circling memories, travel and everyday relationships. Printer’s Devil (2020) tightened the arrangements and brought a more nervous, compact energy, a shift carried forward on The Window (2023), recorded after extended touring in North America and Europe.
On stage, Steiner’s distinct voice sits upfront while intertwined guitars move from crisp, chiming lines to denser, driving sections, keeping a steady melodic thread. The set draws across AOID, GN, Printer’s Devil and The Window, tracing the band’s path from intimate textures to a leaner, more immediate sound without losing the clarity that runs through their writing.
