The Wolfe Tones

On 22 August 2026 at Gleneagle Arena in Killarney, The Wolfe Tones take the stage with the sound that has carried Irish ballad tradition across generations. Formed in Dublin in 1963, the group built its core around Brian Warfield and Noel Nagle, joined early by Tommy Byrne, and has toured as a trio since 2001. Their set blends acoustic folk, traditional airs and story-led ballads, including rebel songs shaped by Ireland’s political history. Close vocal harmonies, strings and whistle lines frame stories of emigration, identity and memory.

Across more than half a century, their catalogue runs from The Foggy Dew and Let the People Sing to A Sense of Freedom, You’ll Never Beat the Irish, Child of Destiny and The Dublin Rebellion 1916. On stage, The Wolfe Tones stay anchored in the communal spirit of the ballad session, keeping the focus on melody, chorus and shared stories, with songs that travel from pub songbook staples to originals that have become part of the folk repertoire.
