Info
Static-X plays The Academy, Dublin on 15 June 2026. Formed in Los Angeles in 1994 by Wayne Static and drummer Ken Jay, the band carved a hybrid of industrial abrasion, nu metal crunch and a machine-tooled groove they dubbed “evil disco.” Their 1999 debut Wisconsin Death Trip set the tone with staccato riffs, tight rhythms and direct hooks, followed by Machine, Shadow Zone, Start a War, Cannibal and Cult of Static. Through these records, the core of Tony Campos, Koichi Fukuda and, depending on the era, Ken Jay or Nick Oshiro kept a balance between jagged electronics and punchy choruses, with a shift toward more melodic writing on Shadow Zone.
After Wayne Static’s passing in 2014, the group resumed in 2018 with Campos, Fukuda and Jay, joined on stage by Xer0 and building new material from Wayne’s archival vocals. Project: Regeneration Vol. 1 (2020) and Vol. 2 (2024) extend that approach. On stage, expect the tight, percussive flow that defines Static-X: chugging downstrokes, clipped samples, martial tempos and choruses designed to lock in. From Wisconsin Death Trip staples to the Regeneration cuts, this date connects the band’s early blueprint to its current phase.
