Info

On 3 November 2026 at Button Factory in Dublin, Tortoise bring their singular take on instrumental music back to the stage. Formed in Chicago in 1990, the quintet of Jeff Parker, Dan Bitney, Douglas McCombs, John Herndon and John McEntire has long explored the edges between rock, jazz, electronics, dub and minimalism. Their approach favors texture over showmanship: interlocking rhythms, shifting basslines, vibraphone figures and analog synth hues that move from sparse patterns to layered grooves without breaking the flow.

Across albums like Millions Now Living Will Never Die (1996), TNT (1998) and Standards (2001), Tortoise mapped out a space where pulse, tone and dynamics do the storytelling. On stage, that language turns tactile: drums converse rather than compete, guitars sketch motifs, and subtle studio-like details are rebuilt live through samplers and effects. Expect a set that traces three decades of material while leaving room for detours, variations and the kind of collective listening that defines the band’s chemistry at Button Factory, Dublin, on 3 November 2026.
