Info
On June 30, 2026 at Théâtre Duceppe in Montréal, Lizz Wright brings a blend of jazz, soul and gospel to the stage. Raised in a pastor’s family in Georgia, she learned music in church choirs before studying jazz in Atlanta. Since Salt (2003), she has balanced standards and originals; Dreaming Wide Awake (2005) and The Orchard (2008) leaned toward folk intimacy; Fellowship (2010) returned to spirituals. Freedom & Surrender (2015) and Grace (2017) explored southern songbooks and roots textures, while Holding Space (2022) documented her work on the road. Shadow (2024) extends that thread with ballads, spirituals and acoustic colors anchored in African-American traditions. Live, she moves fluidly between hymn, blues shades and folk storytelling, with arrangements that leave space for the band and for phrasing to unfold. Expect a set that traces clear lines between church, jazz club and Americana, through songs that travel quietly yet firmly across those worlds.
