Axel Bauer

Axel Bauer will be appearing in Troyes on 6 February 2027 at La Chapelle Argence. A guitarist and singer who has traced a line between new wave and French chanson since the 1980s, he came to prominence with "Cargo" in 1983 and has since pursued work as a songwriter rooted in the French language. On stage, he lets the guitars speak, sets up taut rhythms and then allows more sensitive atmospheres to breathe, with songwriting that blends urban imagination and introspection.

This concert moves through the landmarks of his repertoire, from the early albums Les nouveaux seigneurs and Sentinelles to tracks born of collaborations, such as the duet "À ma place", and on to the more recent territories explored on Bad Cowboy, Peaux de serpent and Radio Londres. Between riffs and melodies, song formats and rock pulses, Axel Bauer revisits a coherent trajectory—at times electric with a band, at times more stripped-down—always with the guitar in the foreground and a direct storytelling that remains compelling live.
