Fantastic Negrito

Fantastic Negrito arrives on July 6, 2026, at Sala El Sol in Madrid with his direct blend of blues, soul and rock, driven by taut riffs, dry grooves and a gritty voice that gets straight to the point. Behind the moniker is Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz, an Oakland musician who relaunched his career in the mid-2010s with a raw, organic approach. On stage he works with dynamics and silence, scraping guitar strikes, restrained rhythm sections and choruses that create space, with nods to funk and gospel without losing the electric pulse.

The setlist draws on material from The Last Days of Oakland, Please Don’t Be Dead and Have You Lost Your Mind Yet?, and includes songs from White Jesus Black Problems, a project born of family research into slavery that incorporates folk textures and more contemporary rhythms. Between slide blues, psychedelic flashes and dry bass lines, the set prioritizes rhythmic tension and vocal storytelling: songs about survival, community and the desire for change. An intimate, up-close show, with songs that expand in performance and leave room for restrained improvisation.
