Formed in Bristol, UK, in 2020, the Tara Clerkin Trio consists of the titular Tara Clerkin, her partner Sunny Joe Paradisos, and Sunny’s brother, Patrick Benjamin. The trio performs at Neue Zukunft in Berlin on 9 September 2026 at 18h00.
With two mini-albums, In Spring (2021) and On The Turning Ground (2023), on London’s World of Echo label following their self-titled 2020 debut, the upcoming Somewhere Good LP continues the band’s work. Clerkin and co. move in and outside of compositional lines over about 40 minutes, with themes of self-defeat, disease, displacement, restlessness, and gentrification, giving their arrangements and improvisations space and time.
There are elements of avant-pop, modern classical, kraut-folk, audio vérité, and indie rock. The band also nods to jazz.
