On October 19, 2026 at Point Éphémère, My New Band Believe, the new project from Cameron Picton—former bassist and occasional singer of black midi—presents a fluid, variable format. Rather than a fixed solo venture, Picton assembles, depending on the songs and the dates, collaborators from the British experimental scene, among them Kiran Leonard, Caius Williams, Steve Noble and Andrew Cheetham. On stage he adopts the role of a narrator delivered at oblique angles and unfolds a repertoire where English folk, baroque pop, chamber rock and experimental song intersect. The compositions advance by contrast, between pared-down acoustic lines, abrupt dynamic shifts and collective arrangements that build up and then unravel. Backed by a self-titled debut on Rough Trade, the concert favors an almost dreamlike logic—a continuous thread that links the pieces while leaving room for slippages and the unexpected.
