On Thursday, 22 October 2026, corto.alto arrives at Sala Riquela in Santiago de Compostela with a crossover of contemporary jazz, electronic music, hip hop and soul. Behind the alias is Liam Shortall, a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Glasgow who understands jazz as a porous territory. Live, the project moves between improvisation and live production: the horns steer the conversation while the beats and synthetic textures push the pulse toward club territory.

The pieces grow in layers, shift focus and leave room for the band to breathe and rework motifs on the fly. Recognised at the Jazz FM Awards 2025, corto.alto speaks to the new British wave close to artists such as Alfa Mist, Nubya Garcia and Yussef Dayes, while retaining a distinct identity: arrangements that look to the legacy without being anchored to it, and an approach rooted in collective energy.
