Swordes

In the summer of 2021, when it finally became legal to go out again, Swordes made her debut performing at the many warehouse raves and parties in Brooklyn’s underground scene in New York. Poppy and melody-driven, her live set consists of hardware synths, drum machines and an emotionally charged, operatic vocal. There isn’t a computer in sight. She will play at RUST on June 10, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

In a world saturated with hyper-produced computer music, autotuned vocals and major-label aesthetics, she instead represents a poetic and personal artistic expression. With her only vocal training coming from the shower and without any formal musical education, Swordes’ style is eclectic, experimental and playful. Swordes still writes, produces, records and mixes all her own music and has integrated her background as a visual artist into her cover artwork and visual presentation.

Swordes takes satisfaction in exploring the many subgenres of electronic music, and when asked which genre her music belongs to, she answers: “It’s human music for humans.” Her next project is a collection of songs that blend pop vocals with club-inspired sounds from late-1990s dance music.
