On 26 November 2026 at L’Usine in Istres, Soen and Tribulation shared the bill for an evening where metal plays on contrasts.
Soen arrived with Reliance, released in January 2026, and continued its course between rhythmic power and carefully crafted melodic lines. Guided by Joel Ekelöf’s clear, nuanced voice and Martin López’s precise drumming, the band develops a progressive metal that alternates walls of guitars, polyrhythmic patterns and more open choruses. On stage, tension builds and then releases, textures stack, and the breaths between passages highlight the surges, resulting in a set that moves in waves and allows room for subtlety.
Tribulation offered a darker counterpoint, where death metal, heavy metal and gothic touches intersect. Their writing, which has moved from a rawer register to more inhabited atmospheres, now favors atmosphere without losing impact. Live, sharp guitars, a dark-toned bass and incantatory vocals combine with a theatrical stage presence, painting scenes that oscillate between frontal energy and twilight melodies. Two Swedish visions of demanding metal, united the same night in Istres.
