Info
The Longest Johns bring their sea-soaked folk harmonies to Studio 919, Victoria, on July 14, 2026. Born in Bristol as an a cappella quartet, they’ve shaped a sound built on close harmonies, pared-down percussion and acoustic arrangements, revisiting shanties and coastal ballads while writing new songs drawn from life at sea. Their early albums Written in Salt and Between Wind and Water set the course, followed by Cures What Ails Ya and Smoke & Oakum, blending traditionals with originals like Bones in the Ocean.
Their take on Wellerman pushed them far beyond the folk circuit, but on stage the focus stays on storytelling, call-and-response energy and the shared chorus feel that first drew people to their videos and festival sets. Expect work songs that stomp and sway, contemporary folk textures, and a few pieces sparked by collaborations and their ties with the Sea of Thieves community. Special guests open the night.
