On 15 October 2026 The Strokes will bring their New York signature to the Uber Arena in Berlin. Since the late 1990s the quintet led by Julian Casablancas has stood for spare, unadorned rock that sits between indie, garage and post‑punk: interlocking guitars, a direct rhythm section, and vocals delivered with a sense of distance. From Is This It and Room on Fire to The New Abnormal the band has gradually opened up its sound, adding nuances of new wave and synth‑pop without surrendering its concise, melodic edge. On the big stage, hooks meet rough edges — tightly played and clearly placed.
Alex Cameron comes from Sydney with narrative pop that swings between synths and soft rock. His songs sketch characters and everyday vignettes, carried by a deep voice, unadorned beats and plain melodies. From Jumping the Shark through Forced Witness to Oxy Music he has developed a repertoire that leaves room on stage for tension and quiet irony.
Fat White Family pick up the thread with a mix of post‑punk, garage and psychedelic hues. Their pieces move between friction and groove, at times lo‑fi and abrasive, at others more densely arranged. The progression from Champagne Holocaust through Serfs Up! to Forgiveness Is Yours reveals a band that seeks out friction and draws energy from it.
