Info

Roméo & Juliette has already gathered more than 11 million spectators worldwide. Translated into 18 languages and performed in 20 countries, the show has established itself as a classic of French musical theatre. Launched in 2001 at the Palais des Congrès, where it attracted nearly 2.5 million spectators, the production has become ingrained in the public memory. From its beginnings it has been embodied by the duo Damien Sargue and Cécilia Cara.

Roméo & Juliette allows audiences to see its original duo reunited on stage.

For Cécilia, returning to Paris with Roméo & Juliette is moving. "I was chosen at 15 to play Juliet, a foundational role that marked the start of my life as an artist. Reprising it twenty years later, alongside Damien, was a powerful moment—as if we had never parted, but had been enriched by everything life has brought us. This return has symbolic value: coming full circle, going back to where it all began, with 25 years of experience that now nourish the characters in a different way. The story continues to bring people together, to transmit love and emotion. It is a joy to be reunited with Juliet and the French audience."

In the same vein, Damien adds: returning to Paris after taking Roméo & Juliette around the world, notably in Asia, resonates in a particular way. This role has accompanied me since 2001, and rediscovering it today alongside Cécilia, with the perspective and maturity that time has given us, gives this adventure a new dimension.

With more than 9 million records sold and hits such as Les Rois du monde and Aimer, Roméo & Juliette has left its mark on musical theatre history. For nearly 25 years the show has travelled across cultures and adapted to the changes of its time: new techniques, new staging codes, new audience expectations. It retains what defines it: well-known songs, a sweeping aesthetic and a strong sense of spectacle.

For Gérard Presgurvic, Roméo & Juliette asks a question: how far are we prepared to go for love? Shakespeare answers, and it is that emotion that we continue to share with audiences. Reuniting Damien Sargue and Cécilia Cara more than twenty years after their debuts brings new depth to the production, nourished by the experience they have gained. Roméo & Juliette is, for me as for the company, a lifelong adventure, and we are writing it again together in 2027.

Announcing the return of Roméo & Juliette is not simply a renewal. It underlines that some stories transcend time. In 2027, Roméo & Juliette returns in a reimagined version, with new generational codes while preserving its essence: a story, emotions and a musical signature. This return will be accompanied by a new cast, new costumes and new stage design, rethought for today. Further details will be revealed step by step.
