Tinariwen bring their desert blues to The Park Theatre in Winnipeg, MB on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Formed by Tuareg musicians from the Sahara, the collective shaped a sound they call assouf — music marked by longing, distance and resilience. Interlocking electric guitars, hand percussion and call-and-response vocals drive songs that speak of freedom, exile and the open road, with grooves that take their time and melodies that stay close to the bone.
Born of years on the move and periods of upheaval, Tinariwen turned guitars into a shared language. On stage, they keep arrangements lean so each part breathes: circular riffs, steady pulses, voices with a rough grain that cuts through. The result is a focused, body-moving flow that balances trance-like rhythms and stripped-back lines, carrying the cadence of the desert without ornament.
