On June 16, 2026 at Le Transbordeur (Villeurbanne), Thornhill led the charge of a metalcore night focused on intensity and emotion. Formed in Melbourne, the band has crafted a sound where heavy guitars and groovy rhythms intersect with more atmospheric passages. Melodic vocals, tension-building climaxes and harsher, abrasive sections answer one another, with a pronounced taste for contrast. Their debut album The Dark Pool (2019) established them in a brand of modern metal shaded with progressive touches. With Heroine (2022), the band moved toward a more alternative palette, incorporating rock and late-1990s–2000s nu‑metal influences and developing a more detailed approach to textures. On stage, Thornhill articulates this evolution through a set designed around the dynamics and dimensionality of the songs.
Opening the evening, Lafayette, a Lyon-based outfit, offered its local take on metalcore. Sharp riffs, emphatic breaks and an alternation between screamed vocals and more melodic lines laid the groundwork for a direct, stage-ready set. It was an opening that set the scene before the Australians took the stage.
