Alela Diane

Alela Diane is stopping at Paloma in Nîmes on November 12, 2026. A singer-songwriter from Portland, she has for years carved out a distinctive path in contemporary folk, with songs in which the voice leads the guitar. She arrives with Who’s Keeping Time?, her seventh album, conceived in a collective impulse following the death of Michael Hurley, a prominent figure in her local scene. The tribute concert awakened in her the desire to play with a band again, to listen and to share. On stage, that impulse is evident: recent songs that examine the tempo of everyday life, memory and connection, carried by spare arrangements—sometimes expanded with piano and strings—and by the direct presence she has cultivated since her beginnings. Between intimate ballads and more expansive surges, Alela Diane draws from her new compositions as well as from landmark records, from The Pirate’s Gospel to Looking Glass, for an occasion that emphasizes the act of listening.
