Between Nashville and Paris, Frenchycana offers a musical journey at the crossroads of two worlds: French chanson and American popular music—folk, blues, and country.

Drawing on his deep knowledge of these genres, Baptiste W. Hamon explores the well-known and lesser-known connections that link Georges Moustaki, Bob Dylan, Johnny Hallyday, Johnny Cash, Joe Dassin, Dolly Parton, Nana Mouskouri, and Leonard Cohen.

Through reimagined covers and a few stories, he recounts the influence that folk and country have had on French chanson, and the bridges that connect these two genres despite their different geographical, historical, and literary roots.

This show is also a musical confession: that of a singer-songwriter who found his inspiration in the folk poetry of the American South as much as in the work of his predecessors in French chanson.

A stroll between melancholy and smiles, guitar and truth, where each piece becomes a dialogue between two cultures that have continually spoken to and inspired one another.
