Since the mid-2000s his work has moved between folk, Americana, dark country and stripped-down rock. A deep voice carries narrative songs about the road, loss, everyday violence and moments of reconciliation. Many listeners discovered him through series like Sons of Anarchy, where his spare, evocative songs found a natural place.
