Info
Deep Purple lands at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg on August 29, 2026. Formed in late 1960s England, the band forged a heavy, riff-driven sound where roaring guitars meet Hammond organ lines and a tightly locked rhythm section. The classic lineup with Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Ian Paice, Roger Glover and Jon Lord left a deep mark with In Rock, Machine Head and Fireball, and tracks like Smoke on the Water, Highway Star or Child in Time. Across shifting lineups, Deep Purple has kept writing and touring, carrying a catalogue that bridges their founding years and more recent releases.
Special guest Kansas brings a blend of progressive rock, melodic hard rock and symphonic accents shaped by guitars, keyboards, stacked vocals and, in its early era, a prominent violin. The group emerged from Topeka in the early 1970s, defined its identity on Song for America, Leftoverture and Point of Know Return, with the writing of Kerry Livgren, the voice of Steve Walsh and the presence of Robby Steinhardt. Over the decades, Kansas moved toward a more direct rock approach without losing its progressive roots, and continued its discography with The Prelude Implicit and The Absence of Presence. On stage, the band balances extended pieces with concise, high-impact songs.
