Altın Gün bring their Dutch-Turkish psychedelic groove to Vancouver on September 8, 2026 at The Pearl. Formed in Amsterdam around bassist Jasper Verhulst, the band digs into the Anatolian songbook and the late-60s/70s rock era, recasting classics and their own cuts with fuzz guitars, a funk-leaning rhythm section, saturated synths and Turkish vocals. On stage, saz and bağlama lines thread through shimmering keys and steady, sometimes disco-tinted patterns, keeping the folk core while opening it to contemporary textures.
Their discography traces that arc: On (2018) and Gece (2019, Grammy-nominated) set the tone, Yol (2021) and the digital release Âlem (2021) pushed electronics forward, and Aşk (2023) tightened the interplay between tradition and new writing. Live, the repertoire moves between reimagined standards and originals, built on grooves that drift from hypnotic to heady without losing sight of the songs.
