On April 10, 2026 at Bozar in Brussels, Laurie Anderson returns to the ridge where performance and pop intersect. A figure of New York's 1970s avant‑garde, she has for decades shaped a language that blends spoken narrative, amplified violin and electronics. Republic of Love unfolds her voice and instruments within a moving visual setup, with textures that shift from transparent loops to denser, pulsed patterns.
She shares the stage with the New York quartet Sex Mob, whose brass and groove open space for her diction: Steven Bernstein on trumpet, Briggan Krauss on alto sax, Tony Scherr on bass and Kenny Wollesen on drums. Guitarist and multi‑reed player Doug Weiselman joins the ensemble, while the violins of Mazz Swift and Christina Courtin provide countermelodies and choirs. Together they explore motifs dear to Anderson — language, memory, technology — in a set that blurs the lines between concert, narrative and installation.
