Roméo & Juliette

On 24 March 2028 at the LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu, Roméo & Juliette returns to the stage. Created by Gérard Presgurvic in 2001, the musical has since travelled widely: translated into 18 languages, performed in 20 countries, and seen by more than 11 million spectators. It features songs that have marked French pop, including “Les Rois du monde” and “Aimer.”

At the heart of the project, the original duo Damien Sargue and Cécilia Cara reconnect with Roméo and Juliette. After tours reaching as far as Asia, they reprise the roles that have accompanied them since the start of their careers. Cécilia describes the part as formative and the return as strongly emotional; Damien emphasizes the distance and maturity gained over time. Their current rapport offers a richer, more nuanced interpretation of the characters.

This production brings together a renewed cast, redesigned costumes and staging, while preserving Presgurvic’s writing and musical signature. The story remains straightforward and direct: how far are we willing to go for love? Roméo & Juliette continues its journey across generations, with refreshed stage energy and an attention to contemporary conventions, without losing what defines its musical identity.
