Sarah McCoy

Info

Sarah McCoy, an American singer and pianist who came up on the New Orleans scene, stops in Mennecy on April 4, 2026 at the Espace Culturel Jean Jacques Robert Orangerie. On stage she moves close to the piano, with a deep, rough voice that at times flirts with spoken word. Her repertoire draws on blues, jazz, soul and gospel, with a direct, often confessional songwriting style. On one hand you hear the stripped-down thrust of her early work, as revealed on Blood Siren (2019), and on the other hand songs nourished by more elaborate arrangements, subtle electronic textures and contemporary production, as on High Priestess (2023), made with Renaud Letang at the prompting of Chilly Gonzales. The concert thus builds a bridge between piano recital, American song and dark pop with soul inflections, where each piece unfolds in an organic tension—sometimes cabaret, sometimes folk—always in the service of the lyrics and the groove.
